HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 174 Offered February 13, 2013 Commending the Lake Braddock High School baseball team. ---------- Patron-- Filler-Corn ----------

WHEREAS, the Lake Braddock High School baseball team punctuated its season with an impressive victory over Kellam High School to claim the 2012 Virginia High School League Group AAA state championship; and

WHEREAS, the Lake Braddock Bruins, coached by Jody Rutherford, earned a remarkable record of 26 - 3 throughout their triumphant 2012 season; and

WHEREAS, the season began with an extraordinary nine-game winning streak, which led to the Lake Braddock Bruins claiming the Patriot District championship and ultimately winning the state championship on June 9, 2012; and

WHEREAS, the Lake Braddock Bruins climbed as high as the 42nd spot in ESPN’s FAB 50 rankings, a set of national rankings of high school sports teams; and

WHEREAS, the Lake Braddock Bruins’ notable season is a credit to the tenacity and talent of each player, the sturdy leadership of head coach Jody Rutherford and his fellow coaches, and the priceless support of the athletes’ families, Lake Braddock High School, and the community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Lake Braddock High School baseball team hereby be commended for its victory in the Virginia High School League Group AAA state championship; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare copies of this resolution for presentation to the Lake Braddock High School baseball team and to Jody Rutherford, head coach of the team, as an expression of the House of Delegates’ congratulations for an exceptional season.
