HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 154
Commending the Urban League of Greater Richmond Young Professionals Network.

 

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, February 8, 2013

 

WHEREAS, the Urban League of Greater Richmond Young Professionals Network brings together minority professionals from 21 to 40 years of age who work to empower their communities and change lives through the Urban League Movement; and

WHEREAS, since September 29, 1910, the Committee on Urban Conditions Among Negroes, known today as the Urban League, has fought to improve the economic, education, and civil rights conditions among African Americans; and

WHEREAS, it is the sole mission of the Urban League movement to secure economic self-reliance, parity, power, and civil rights; and

WHEREAS, the Urban League of Greater Richmond Young Professionals Network, a National Urban League auxiliary, seeks economic empowerment for communities, the creation of green empowerment zones, the expansion of small business lending, and funding for direct job creation in the City of Richmond and throughout the Commonwealth; and

WHEREAS, the Urban League of Greater Richmond Young Professionals Network encourages its members and local citizens to improve their communities; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Urban League of Greater Richmond Young Professionals Network hereby be commended for its work to better the community; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Urban League of Greater Richmond Young Professionals Network as an expression of the House of Delegates’ admiration for the Network’s commitment to serving local residents.
