13103366DWHEREAS, Martha Allston Wildhack, an active member of the Arlington community, died on December 16, 2012; and
WHEREAS, originally from North Carolina, Martha “Marty” Wildhack moved to Arlington in 1942; she later graduated from Washington-Lee High School, remaining involved with the school by serving on several reunion committees for the class of 1953; and
WHEREAS, after graduating from Radford University, Marty Wildhack worked as a flight attendant with Trans World Airlines (TWA); eventually returning to Arlington, she became an outstanding member of the community; and
WHEREAS, frequently serving as the treasurer, Marty Wildhack gave her time to a variety of organizations, including the Arlington Young Democrats, Arlington Bar Lawyers’ Wives, Arlington Jaycees Wives, TWA Clipped Wings International, and the Williamsburg Women’s Club of Arlington; and
WHEREAS, Marty Wildhack remained true to the Presbyterian Church throughout her life, becoming a charter member of Fairlington Presbyterian Church as a child and attending Trinity Presbyterian Church as a young woman; and
WHEREAS, a devout member of Little Falls Presbyterian Church for 40 years, Marty Wildhack served as an elder and worked as the luncheon coordinator; and
WHEREAS, Marty Wildhack loved to travel, particularly on cruises, and happily celebrated her 50th wedding anniversary at sea with family; and
WHEREAS, a proud wife and mother, Marty Wildhack is survived and fondly remembered by her husband of 53 years, William, Jr.; children, Elizabeth and William III, and their families; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Delegates hereby note with great sadness the loss of an admirable Arlington resident, Martha Allston Wildhack; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Martha Allston Wildhack as an expression of the House of Delegates’ respect for her memory.
