2013 SESSION
WHEREAS, the Herndon High School co-ed cheer team demonstrated their talent and skill by winning the Virginia High School League Group AAA state cheer championship in November 2012; and
WHEREAS, earlier in the season, the Herndon High School Hornets won the Concorde District championship title for the third year in a row; and
WHEREAS, earning a remarkable 280.5 points in the state championship, the Herndon Hornets recorded the second highest score in Virginia High School League Group AAA history; and
WHEREAS, with a nearly flawless performance, the Herndon Hornets scored highly in all categories, including motions, jumps, tumbling, stunts, and dance skills; and
WHEREAS, the success of the Herndon Hornets is a tribute to the support shown by the community and everyone at Herndon High School; and
WHEREAS, Jenny Goff, the esteemed head coach of the Herndon High School cheer team, will retire after serving for nine years and guiding the team to its first state championship win; and
WHEREAS, the team was led by assistant coaches Emma Collie, Suzanne Mansfield, Deven Song, Hayden Little, and Anna Seymour; and
WHEREAS, each athlete—Bernadette Abadias, Joanna Albert, Alex Asack, Claire Barnes, Alex Coffelt, Marissa Foster, Inteha Hassan, Briana Heckard, Meghan Henry, Macie Heuring, Kara Joyce, Shannon Kelley, Zoe Langendorff, Breana McPherson, Conlan Miller, Hannah Moore, Bridget Nagy, Sheena Okai, Isaac Parada, Lexia Rowley, Margaret Schaaf, Lisa Sheffer, Sarah Strangfeld, Rebecca Valley, and Veronica Wood—contributed wholeheartedly to the victory; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Herndon High School co-ed cheer team hereby be commended for winning the Virginia High School League Group AAA state cheer championship; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Jenny Goff, head coach of the Herndon High School co-ed cheer team, as an expression of the House of Delegates’ admiration for the team’s determination, energy, and talent.
