HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 116
Commending Richmond Hill.

 

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, January 11, 2013

 

WHEREAS, Richmond Hill, located in Richmond’s historic Church Hill neighborhood, marked its 25th anniversary on December 1, 2012; and

WHEREAS, Richmond Hill was established on December 1, 1987, as an ecumenical Christian fellowship and residential community to serve as stewards of an urban retreat center within the setting of a historic monastery; and

WHEREAS, the mission of Richmond Hill is to advance God’s healing of the Greater Richmond metropolitan area through prayer, hospitality, racial reconciliation, and spiritual development; and

WHEREAS, the Richmond Hill Community, Council, staff, and volunteers have worked tirelessly for 25 years to serve the Greater Richmond metropolitan area with care, professionalism, and Christian charity; and

WHEREAS, Richmond Hill has provided exemplary leadership and service to the community and in particular to the children of the City of Richmond through the Micah Initiative, the Armstrong Leadership Program, and Summer Camp on the Hill; and

WHEREAS, Richmond Hill looks back with pride at the accomplishments and service of the Richmond Hill Community and looks forward to its expanding success in the future; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Richmond Hill hereby be commended on the occasion of its 25th anniversary; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Reverend Robert Hetherington, president of the Richmond Hill Council, as an expression of the House of Delegates’ congratulations and admiration for Richmond Hill’s commitment to the Greater Richmond metropolitan area.
