Celebrating the life of Dorothy Lee Reavis Belton.

 

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, January 11, 2013

 

WHEREAS, Dorothy Lee Reavis Belton, an active member and friend of the Galax community, died on November 11, 2012; and

WHEREAS, Dorothy Belton was born in Grayson County on January 8, 1927, to the late Jim and Nellie Reavis; and

WHEREAS, Dorothy Belton, an admired employee of Sara Lee, will be missed by her coworkers; and

WHEREAS, as a loyal member of her church, Dorothy Belton enjoyed fellowship with the community every Sunday; and

WHEREAS, taking every opportunity to reach out to her neighbors, Dorothy Belton built camaraderie and spread joy whenever possible; and

WHEREAS, Dorothy Belton is survived by her husband, Ray and four children, Janice, Wanda, Bobby, and Kenneth, and their families, including seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, a sweet-natured woman, Dorothy Belton will be missed and fondly remembered by her family and many friends in the area; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Delegates hereby note with great sadness the loss of Dorothy Lee Reavis Belton, an exceptional member of the Galax community; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Dorothy Lee Reavis Belton as an expression of the House of Delegates’ respect for her memory.
