Commending Vangelis Dimopoulos.

WHEREAS, Vangelis Dimopoulos, a senior at The College of William and Mary, advanced to the Hollywood round in the 2013 season of the televised singing competition American Idol; and

WHEREAS, as a longtime fan of American Idol, Vangelis Dimopoulos, a native of New Jersey, had often considered auditioning for the show; he attended the New York City regional auditions for the 2013 season; and

WHEREAS, receiving unanimous support from all four judges, Vangelis Dimopoulos advanced to the Hollywood group round of the competition; as a member of a group calling themselves The Smooth Guys, he sang the hit ballad “More Than Words” by the band Extreme; and

WHEREAS, beginning as a member of a children’s choir, Vangelis Dimopoulos has enjoyed singing from a young age and views music as an excellent stress reliever; although he is unsure if he will pursue a career in music, Vangelis Dimopoulos is confident he will not lose his passion for singing; and

WHEREAS, during his run on American Idol, Vangelis Dimopoulos was inspired by the enthusiastic support of his family members, friends, and the students, faculty, and administration of The College of William and Mary; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Vangelis Dimopoulos on advancing to the Hollywood round of American Idol; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Vangelis Dimopoulos as an expression of the General Assembly’s admiration for his success and best wishes on future endeavors.
