Commending Dr. Sue B. Davis.

WHEREAS, Dr. Sue B. Davis, a devoted and influential educator, will retire as the division superintendent of Danville Public Schools in 2013; and

WHEREAS, Sue Davis earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Averett University and went on to earn a doctorate from Virginia Tech; and

WHEREAS, over the course of nearly four decades with the Danville Public Schools system, Sue Davis held the position of teacher, principal, and supervisor; she gained a wealth of knowledge and experience that she would later call upon as a superintendent; and

WHEREAS, with a long list of accomplishments at Danville Public Schools, Sue Davis has implemented many new initiatives and developed existing resources to build and maintain comprehensive academic programs; and

WHEREAS, Sue Davis has imparted her love of learning to countless students over the years, inspiring them to achieve greatness in and out of school; she reaches out to parents and the community to help build a positive environment for students; and

WHEREAS, a generous volunteer and a consummate leader, Sue Davis has donated her time and talents to myriad boards, committees, councils, and civic organizations; she works tirelessly to enhance educational institutions and build community spirit in and around the City of Danville; and

WHEREAS, Sue Davis strives to ensure that her students are prepared to meet the challenges of the future; she is an exemplar of the crucial role that educators play in strengthening the Commonwealth; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Dr. Sue B. Davis on the occasion of her retirement as the division superintendent of Danville Public Schools in 2013; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Dr. Sue B. Davis as an expression of the General Assembly’s admiration for her loyal service to the City of Danville and best wishes for a happy retirement.
