Commending the Honorable Junius P. Warren.

WHEREAS, the Honorable Junius P. Warren, an admired jurist who has served the 21st Judicial District as a Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court judge for 29 years, will retire on April 1, 2013; and

WHEREAS, a respected member of the legal community, Judge Warren joined the 21st Judicial District, which encompasses the City of Martinsville and the Counties of Henry and Patrick, as the only judge in the Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court; and

WHEREAS, Judge Warren presided with great fairness and compassion as he heard a variety of cases over the years ranging from criminal cases to such civil matters as child support and custody, foster care, and child abuse and neglect; and

WHEREAS, Judge Warren heard cases three days a week in the Martinsville Municipal Building and spent the other two days in Henry and Patrick Counties; and

WHEREAS, Judge Warren saw many changes in family law and the court system over the years, including the establishment of the Division of Child Support Enforcement and the use of bailiffs and technology; and

WHEREAS, known for his knowledge of the law, Judge Warren made many contributions to the local and state legal community during his career and earned the respect of courtroom staff, attorneys, and colleagues; and

WHEREAS, in his well-deserved retirement, Judge Warren looks forward to continuing to serve the Commonwealth as needed and spending time with family and friends; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Honorable Junius P. Warren for his distinguished service on the occasion of his retirement; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Honorable Junius P. Warren as an expression of the General Assembly’s admiration and gratitude for his distinguished service and best wishes in his future endeavors.
