HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 906
Commending the Pi Lambda Lambda Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.

WHEREAS, the Pi Lambda Lambda Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., which has a proud tradition of serving the community, is commended for its dedication to Prince William County voters and the electoral process during the 2012 election; and

WHEREAS, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., founded at Howard University in 1911, has over 700 chapters across the United States and around the world with its members serving as leaders in a host of fields; and

WHEREAS, the Pi Lambda Lambda Chapter, an award-winning chapter known for its social and civic engagement, conducted several voter registration drives and neighborhood canvassing events in which they registered 97 new voters; and

WHEREAS, on Election Day 2012, Pi Lambda Lambda Chapter members generously gave of their time to provide free transportation to voters who needed rides to the polls; and

WHEREAS, despite long lines at the polls, Pi Lambda Lambda Chapter members demonstrated great cheerfulness, patience, and civic responsibility as they transported voters to the polls on election day and waited for them to vote; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Pi Lambda Lambda Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., for its commitment to Prince William County voters and the electoral process during the 2012 election; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Pi Lambda Lambda Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., as an expression of the General Assembly’s admiration for the chapter’s commitment to serving the community.
