2013 SESSION
WHEREAS, Timothy Lewis Worrell, the former chief of the Bent Mountain Volunteer Fire Department in Roanoke County, died on September 9, 2012; and
WHEREAS, born and raised in Bent Mountain, Timothy “Tim” Worrell worked as a supervisor at Salem Frame Co. and devoted 31 years to the service of his fellow residents as a volunteer firefighter with the Bent Mountain Volunteer Fire Department, including two years as chief; and
WHEREAS, Tim Worrell ran countless calls over the course of his career and battled a wide array of fires while staying abreast of the latest technology and training and encouraging fire prevention efforts; and
WHEREAS, Tim Worrell served as an outstanding role model for other firefighters and made many contributions to the safety of Bent Mountain residents during his more than three decades of service; and
WHEREAS, in his free time, Tim Worrell enjoyed riding his motorcycle, an activity that allowed him to appreciate the great scenic beauty of the area; and
WHEREAS, a man of deep faith, Tim Worrell enjoyed fellowship and worship at Mount Union Church of the Brethren; and
WHEREAS, a remarkable community servant, Tim Worrell will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his children, Brittany, Zach, and Jeremy, and their families; numerous other family members and friends; and the grateful community of Bent Mountain; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of a dedicated firefighter, Timothy Lewis Worrell; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Timothy Lewis Worrell as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for his memory.
