2013 SESSION
13104222DWHEREAS, Robyn Dobson Yovanovich, an Upperville resident, color commentator for the Virginia Gold Cup, and the chair of the Fine Arts Department of the Foxcroft School, died on July 23, 2012; and
WHEREAS, a native of the Commonwealth, Robyn Yovanovich was born in 1953 and graduated from Fauquier High School; and
WHEREAS, Robyn Yovanovich pursued an interest in theater and starred in productions at the Catholic University of America, which she attended on a Helen Hayes drama scholarship; and
WHEREAS, following her passion, Robyn Yovanovich danced on Broadway and toured Europe as a member of the United Service Organizations; and
WHEREAS, Robyn Yovanovich worked as a choreographer, director, and drama teacher before becoming the chair of the Fine Arts Department at the Foxcroft School in Middleburg; and
WHEREAS, a stalwart supporter of the Foxcroft School, Robyn Yovanovich and her daughter produced and performed in a show at the school that raised over $6,000 in donations for the Fine Arts Department; and
WHEREAS, known for her enthusiastic coverage of the Virginia Gold Cup steeplechase horse race, Robyn Yovanovich interviewed winning owners, trainers, and riders during live coverage of the event; and
WHEREAS, Robyn Yovanovich also served as a steward stand marshal at the Virginia Gold Cup and International Gold Cup races; and
WHEREAS, Robyn Yovanovich is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband, Don; daughter, Anna Clancey; and many other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Robyn Dobson Yovanovich, a beloved commentator for the Virginia Gold Cup, devoted educator, and steadfast supporter of the arts; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Robyn Dobson Yovanovich as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for her memory.
