Celebrating the life of Debra Elaine Roberts.

WHEREAS, Debra Elaine Roberts, a devout Christian, loyal educator, and inspirational friend to many in the Cedar Bluff community, died on January 10, 2012; and

WHEREAS, born in Fort Campbell, Kentucky, in 1956, Debra Roberts knew from an early age that she wished to dedicate her life to the service of Jesus Christ; and

WHEREAS, Debra Roberts attended Liberty University in Lynchburg and later married the pastor of Westside Holiness Church in Raven, Reverend Mike Roberts; and

WHEREAS, a devoted educator, Debra Roberts was a teacher at Richlands Tabernacle Christian Academy for 18 years and taught Sunday school at Westside Holiness Church for 38 years; and

WHEREAS, known for her work to spread the joy of faith throughout the country, Debra Roberts was a speaker at many conferences, youth camps, and Christian Ladies Retreat events; and

WHEREAS, always concerned for the well-being of the community, Debra Roberts generously gave her time, support, and prayers to friends and neighbors in need; and

WHEREAS, Debra Roberts was a shining example of the strength that one can draw from faith and often inspired others to lead devout lives; and

WHEREAS, a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Debra Roberts is survived by her husband, Reverend Mike Roberts; sons Missionary Aaron Roberts, Reverend Jonathan Roberts, and Reverend Benjamin Roberts, and their families; and many other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Debra Elaine Roberts, an educator, Christian, and beloved member of the community; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Debra Elaine Roberts as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for her memory.
