2013 SESSION
13104030DWHEREAS, the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office was honored for its service to the citizens of Hanover County with a Voice of the People Award for Excellence from the International City/County Management Association and the National Research Center, Inc.; and
WHEREAS, the International City/County Management Association and the National Research Center, Inc., partnered to create an independent citizen survey that gives residents an opportunity to rate the quality of service they receive; and
WHEREAS, the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office, one of only 12 communities in the nation to win the prestigious award in 2012, earned a service quality rating in the top three of eligible jurisdictions and scored in the top 10 percent among the more than 500 jurisdictions surveyed; and
WHEREAS, the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office, founded in 1720, has a long and proud tradition of serving local residents with the motto “Continuing to be a Part of, Not Apart From, the Community”; and
WHEREAS, all members of the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office, under the direction of Colonel David R. Hines, Sheriff, take pride in working together to serve the community through crime prevention and community outreach services; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office on its selection as a Voice of the People Award for Excellence recipient from the International City/County Management Association and the National Research Center, Inc.; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office as an expression of the General Assembly’s congratulations and admiration for the commitment of the Sheriff’s Office to the residents of Hanover County.
