2013 SESSION
WHEREAS, Augusta Health, located in Fishersville, has been recognized as one of America’s 100 Top Hospitals by Truven Health Analytics for 2012 and received a 100 Top Hospitals Everest Award as one of the fastest-improving hospitals among the Top 100; and
WHEREAS, Augusta Health was evaluated on patient satisfaction, patient safety, profitability, adherence to clinical standards of care, postdischarge mortality, and other factors among medium-sized community hospitals across the country to be named for the second consecutive year as one of America’s 100 Top Hospitals; and
WHEREAS, Augusta Health demonstrated an impressive level in improvement among those evaluation factors over a five-year period, which resulted in its selection as a 2012 100 Top Hospitals Everest Award winner; and
WHEREAS, Augusta Health, which serves residents of Waynesboro, Staunton, Augusta County, and surrounding counties, opened in 1994 and has a skilled, professional staff who provide superior care at its facilities, including the cancer treatment center; a heart and vascular center is scheduled to be completed in March 2013; and
WHEREAS, Augusta Health takes a proactive approach to meeting community health needs and is currently working on an assessment that will help it better meet patient needs, determine which chronic diseases are most prevalent in the area, and evaluate the overall level of wellness in its service area; and
WHEREAS, a vital part of the community, Augusta Health strives to encourage the health and well-being of the individuals it serves and maintains high standards that have earned it the prestigious designation as one of America’s 100 Top Hospitals and a coveted 100 Top Hospitals Everest Award; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Augusta Health on its recognition as one of America’s 100 Top Hospitals by Truven Health Analytics for 2012 and on receiving a 100 Top Hospitals Everest Award as one of the fastest-improving hospitals among the top 100; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Mary Mannix, president and chief executive officer of Augusta Health, as an expression of the General Assembly’s congratulations and admiration for the hospital’s commitment to outstanding care.
