2013 SESSION
WHEREAS, Dr. Lucie Anne Pelletier, a skilled and compassionate veterinarian from Richmond who provided outstanding professional care throughout her career, died on August 12, 2012; and
WHEREAS, a native of Florida, Lucie Pelletier moved to Alexandria with her family as a young girl and grew up with her five siblings; and
WHEREAS, at an early age, Lucie Pelletier showed an interest in the welfare of the animals around her from an abandoned dog to orphaned baby owls to household pets; and
WHEREAS, Lucie Pelletier pursued this interest in her professional career, earning a bachelor’s degree from Virginia Tech and a veterinary degree from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Pelletier began her career as an associate veterinarian at Caroline Animal Hospital and worked at Three Chopt Animal Clinic and at Goochland Animal Clinic before returning to Three Chopt Animal Clinic in 2000, which she eventually co-owned; and
WHEREAS, a respected veterinarian, Dr. Pelletier served as the former president of the Central Virginia Veterinary Medicine Association and treated a wide range of animals and a vast array of animal health issues throughout her career; and
WHEREAS, countless families entrusted the care of their beloved pets to Dr. Pelletier, relying on her outstanding skill, genuine commitment, and warm heart in treating these important members of their families; and
WHEREAS, an inspiring woman known for her tremendous strength, Lucie Pelletier will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her husband, Daniel; parents, Neil and Alice; siblings, Michelle, Elise, Guy, Marc, and Remi, and their families; stepchildren, Daniel and Elizabeth, and their families; and numerous other family members, friends, and colleagues; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of a respected and caring veterinarian, Dr. Lucie Anne Pelletier; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Dr. Lucie Anne Pelletier as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for her memory.
