Commending Kaitlin Eriksen.

WHEREAS, Kaitlin Eriksen, a senior at Mathews High School, was recognized by the Gloucester-Mathews Gazette-Journal as the 2011-2012 female Athlete of the Year; and

WHEREAS, following an exceptional 2011 basketball season, point guard Kaitlin Eriksen earned a first-team all-district selection; and

WHEREAS, Kaitlin Eriksen also distinguished herself on the Mathews Lady Devils softball team during the 2012 season; and

WHEREAS, along with fellow senior, James Pavik, Jr., Kaitlin Eriksen earned Mathews High School the honor of having two students named Athlete of the Year; and

WHEREAS, after receiving a $500 honorarium for the award, Kaitlin Eriksen attended Coastal Carolina University in the fall of 2012; and

WHEREAS, Kaitlin Eriksen’s achievements are attributable to her hard work and dedication, as well as to the support of her friends, family, coaches, teammates, and everyone at Mathews High School; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Kaitlin Eriksen for being named the Gloucester-Mathews Gazette-Journal 2011-2012 female Athlete of the Year; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Kaitlin Eriksen as an expression of the General Assembly’s admiration for her commanding athletic performances and best wishes for continued success.
