13100794DBe it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 24.2-603.2 as follows:
§ 24.2-603.2. Early voting in anticipation of certain emergencies.
The Governor, Speaker of the House of Delegates, and President pro tempore of the Senate, acting jointly, shall have authority to declare a state of emergency and order the opening of one or more polling places for early voting in one or more counties and cities in response to predictions from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's National Weather Service that voting on election day may be adversely impacted by forecasted severe weather events affecting the Commonwealth. Early voting may be ordered for one to three days during the five-day period immediately preceding the election.
