Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1.  § 1. That the Board of Education shall adopt regulations providing for an additional testing period, to occur prior to March 1 of each year, for the administration of Standards of Learning assessments to students. Local school boards may elect to participate in such additional testing period. Any student who does not achieve a passing score during such additional testing period shall be permitted to retake the test during another testing period.

§ 2. Any costs associated with the administration of Standards of Learning assessments during the additional testing period adopted pursuant to § 1 of this act shall be borne by the participating school division.
