PRIVILEGES AND ELECTIONS
1. At the beginning of line 82, introduced

A. The Mayor and Town Council shall be elected on the Tuesday following the first Monday in November in odd-numbered years in the manner provided by Virginia general election laws, except insofar as they are otherwise herein provided by this Charter. The Mayor and members of Town Council in office at the effective date of this Charter amendment shall continue in office until their successors have been elected at the November general election in the odd-numbered year following the year in which their terms would have ended, and said successors have been qualified to serve.
B. The terms of office for all Town Council members shall begin on the first day of January next following their election, and each shall serve for a term of four (4) years or until his or her successor shall have been elected and qualified. The term of office for the Mayor shall begin on the first day of January next following his or her election, and the Mayor shall serve for a term of two (2) years. The Town Council members and Mayor may succeed themselves as often as the voters may choose.
C. Candidates for Town Council and Mayor may be nominated either by petition or by political party in the manner prescribed by general law.
