12200067DWHEREAS, the Williamsburg Christian Academy boys’ basketball team ended the 2011 - 2012 season by winning the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association Division III state championship title; and
WHEREAS, the win against Christ Chapel Academy, the first state championship in boys’ basketball, thrilled Williamsburg Christian Academy fans; and
WHEREAS, the Williamsburg Christian Academy boys’ basketball team started the game with a strong man-to-man defense and made seven of 13 shots from the floor in the first eight minutes to build an 18 - 13 lead; and
WHEREAS, Christ Chapel Academy answered with a three-pointer to bring the score to 18 - 16; Williamsburg Christian Academy then went on a 20 - 4 spurt to end the first half at 38 - 20; and
WHEREAS, the Williamsburg Christian Academy boys’ basketball team built a 52 - 28 lead during the third quarter and claimed the victory with a final score of 59 - 37; and
WHEREAS, the championship season of the Williamsburg Christian Academy boys’ basketball team is a result of the players’ teamwork, hours of practice, and talent; the leadership of head coach Chris Gann; and the support of the school’s administration, teachers, faculty, parents, and students; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Williamsburg Christian Academy boys’ basketball team hereby be commended on winning the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association Division III state championship; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Chris Gann, head coach of the Williamsburg Christian Academy boys’ basketball team, as an expression of the House of Delegates’ congratulations and admiration for the team’s outstanding season and championship performance.
