HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 549
Commending Park View High School.

 

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, April 17, 2012

 

WHEREAS, Park View High School, which opened in 1976, celebrates 36 years of serving the Sterling Park and Sugar Land areas of Loudoun County in 2012; and

WHEREAS, in 1997 and 2003, the growing population in the eastern part of Loudoun County led to the feeding of students from Park View High School to Potomac Falls High School and Dominion High School, respectively; and

WHEREAS, Park View High School, under the leadership of principal Dr. Virginia Minshew, celebrates its diverse student body, teaching students to work cooperatively and independently, while emphasizing accountability and working collaboratively as a community to create a rigorous and nurturing learning environment; and

WHEREAS, for the 2010 - 2011 school year, Park View High School has been recognized as a Virginia Naturally School by the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries for meeting specific requirements that demonstrate exemplary efforts to promote good stewardship of Virginia’s natural resources; and

WHEREAS, Virginia Natually Schools also work to promote civic pride through knowledge of the community history in the area of which they are a part; and

WHEREAS, Park View High School also supports strong programs in the arts to enrich the lives of students, with a comprehensive and varied art program to satisfy individual differences, live theater to help students improve their self esteem and discover their talents, and a music program to nurture existing talent and encourage cultural awareness and music appreciation; and

WHEREAS, students at Park View High School have thrived in a positive learning environment where reflective practitioners analyze the appropriate data and adjust teaching practices to implement the programs that will best meet students’ needs; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Park View High School hereby be commended on the occasion of its 36th anniversary; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Dr. Virginia Minshew, principal of Park View High School, as an expression of the House of Delegates’ congratulations and appreciation for the school’s commitment to its students.
