HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 544 Offered April 17, 2012 Commending Dulles Community Church. ---------- Patron-- Ramadan ----------

WHEREAS, Dulles Community Church is commended for its Serving Together Our Community Kids program, which provides area families in need with essential items; and

WHEREAS, Dulles Community Church began its Serving Together Our Community Kids (STOCK) program after learning that area families were in need, that 4.5 percent of Loudoun County children live in poverty, and that 10.75 percent of school children in Loudoun County qualify for and receive free lunch; and

WHEREAS, Dulles Community Church members provide nonperishable food items, toiletries and household items, and grocery store gift cards to help local families; and

WHEREAS, Dulles Community Church also reaches out to children through its Planet Faith ministries, which provides infants and children up to fifth grade a fun and safe environment to learn about faith and the importance of making wise choices; and

WHEREAS, Dulles Community Church offers middle and high school students the opportunity to enjoy fellowship, Bible study, and service through its ECHO ministries; and

WHEREAS, Dulles Community Church adult members meet together in a variety of community groups to enjoy fellowship and build friendships; and

WHEREAS, under the leadership of Pastor Brad Russell, Dulles Community Church strives to reach out to the community, while being culturally relevant, encouraging members to own the church vision, and building common unity; and

WHEREAS, through its STOCK program, Dulles Community Church has touched the lives of numerous families in the area, providing much needed hope and assistance; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Dulles Community Church hereby be commended on reaching out to families in need through its Serving Together Our Community Kids program; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Brad Russell, pastor of Dulles Community Church, as an expression of the House of Delegates’ appreciation for the church’s commitment to local youth and families.
