2012 SPECIAL SESSION I
WHEREAS, the 2010 - 2011 Potomac Falls High School boys’ basketball team capped an outstanding season by capturing its second Virginia High School League Group AA, Division 4 state championship; and
WHEREAS, Potomac Falls High School is a learning community in which students, faculty, and parents work together to promote individual achievement and the personal integrity of its population; and
WHEREAS, the Potomac Falls High School boys’ basketball team also won the Dulles District Tournament championship and the Region II tournament championship on its way to the state championship; and
WHEREAS, the entire team—Brendon Chesson Johnson, Steven Wilson, Jr., Zachary Hobby, Peter Simoneau, Zachary Curran, Matthew Byrd, Alexander Kress, Matthew Galloway, Benjamin Sweger, Lukas Mihailovich, Todd Shanosky, Michael Wagenhoffer, Gregory Graves, and Matthew Hoover—contributed to the team’s championship season; and
WHEREAS, the Potomac Falls High School boys’ basketball team thrived under the leadership of head coach Jeff Hawes; assistant coaches Brad Bauder, Kip Shallis, and Brandon Jackson; athletic director Mike Sipe; and athletic trainer Jenny Cleland; and
WHEREAS, the team’s second consecutive win is a tribute to the hard work of the Potomac Falls High School boys’ basketball team, the encouragement of principal Janice Koslowski, and the support of the Potomac Falls High School community and shows that Potomac Falls High School and Loudoun County are a force to be reckoned with; and
WHEREAS, the championship victory belongs not only to the Potomac Falls High School Panthers boys’ basketball team and their world-class coaches, but also to their families and to the students and faculty at Potomac Falls High School; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the 2010 - 2011 Potomac Falls High School boys’ basketball team hereby be commended on winning the Virginia High School League Group AA, Division 4 state championship; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Jeff Hawes, head coach of the 2010 - 2011 Potomac Falls High School boys’ basketball team, as an expression of the House of Delegates’ congratulations and appreciation for the team’s outstanding season and championship performance.
