HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 527
Commending the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office Dulles South Public Safety Center.

 

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, March 27, 2012

 

WHEREAS, the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office Dulles South Public Safety Center will mark its fifth anniversary in 2012; and

WHEREAS, the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office strives to preserve, protect, and defend the citizens and property of Loudoun County through the fair and impartial enforcement of the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia and the ordinances of Loudoun County; and

WHEREAS, the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office opened its first county-owned station, the Dulles South Public Safety Center, in 2007 in the South Riding area; the station serves as a combined fire-rescue and law-enforcement station; and

WHEREAS, the Dulles South Public Safety Center opened under Sheriff Stephen O. Simpson and Captain Don Park and is currently commanded by Sheriff Michael L. Chapman and Captain Ed Leonard; and

WHEREAS, over the past two years, serious crime in Loudoun County has decreased, with aggravated assault cases down 22 percent, burglary cases down 35 percent, driving under the influence down 11.1 percent, and sexual assaults down 23.5 percent; and

WHEREAS, the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office has partnered with Virginia State Police to implement the Virginia State Police Help Eliminate Auto Theft (H.E.A.T.) program, which educates individuals about vehicle theft, supports local law-enforcement officers, and offers VIN etching to deter vehicle theft; and

WHEREAS, the Dulles South Public Safety Center hosts numerous community outreach programs, including a proactive and nationally recognized Neighborhood Watch program; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office Dulles South Public Safety Center hereby be commended for its service to Loudoun County residents; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office Dulles South Public Safety Center as an expression of the House of Delegates’ appreciation for the center’s commitment to public safety.
