2012 SPECIAL SESSION I
12200039DWHEREAS, Arcola Elementary School is commended for its efforts to encourage the enrichment of students through its Foreign Language in Elementary School program; and
WHEREAS, opened in 2007, Arcola Elementary School offers its Foreign Language in Elementary School (FLES) program to capture children’s ability to learn a second language at an early age and encourage awareness of cultural differences; and

WHEREAS, the FLES program helps students participate in a global society and assists in providing increased readiness for secondary foreign language study; and
WHEREAS, students at Arcola Elementary School are taught to think of others through participation in service projects, which have included sending aid to Japanese quake victims and collecting coats for the homeless; and
WHEREAS, staff at Arcola Elementary School, under the direction of Principal Dr. Clark Bowers, believe that today’s dreamers are tomorrow’s achievers and provide a safe, caring, and supportive learning community that fosters individual growth, embraces diversity, and inspires successful lifelong learning; now, therefore, be it
