HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 522
Commending Brambleton Presbyterian Church.

 

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, March 27, 2012

 

WHEREAS, middle school students of Brambleton Presbyterian Church recently led and participated in a 30-hour famine in which they abstained from food for 30 hours to raise funds and awareness about world hunger; and

WHEREAS, Brambleton Presbyterian Church, which held its first service on December 25, 2005, and today has approximately 150 members, became officially recognized as a Presbyterian church in October 2011; and

WHEREAS, Brambleton Presbyterian Church members strive to improve the lives of those less fortunate by helping the world and the community; and

WHEREAS, during the 30-hour famine, Brambleton Presbyterian Church participants learned about world hunger and some of its causes and what they can do to help end world hunger; and

WHEREAS, for eight weeks prior to the 30-hour famine, Brambleton Presbyterian Church middle school students raised funds to help end hunger and donated the money to World Vision; and

WHEREAS, Brambleton Presbyterian Church also contributes to the community by filling backpacks with school supplies to send to students in Africa, partnering with Light Up the Night to raise money and awareness for leukemia, and raising money to help the homeless; and

WHEREAS, Brambleton Presbyterian Church also collects and donates coats and food to community members; at Vacation Bible School, the elementary school students sell lemonade to raise money for a school in Malawi; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Brambleton Presbyterian Church hereby be commended for its efforts to help end world hunger; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Brambleton Presbyterian Church as an expression of the House of Delegates’ admiration for the church’s commitment to helping those in need.
