Commending the King George High School Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps rifle team.

WHEREAS, the King George High School Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (NJROTC) rifle team captured the 2011 - 2012 Navy Nationals Air Rifle Sporter Division championship title on February 14, 2012; and

WHEREAS, the King George High School NJROTC rifle team traveled with Coach Jim Morgan and Commander Duckworth to the annual Navy National Championship held at Camp Perry, Ohio, on Lake Erie; and

WHEREAS, the NJROTC rifle team members—Hunter Cushman, Emilie Stevenson, Sheila Craine, Matt Ritenour, and alternate, Vance Parker—displayed expert marksmanship, breaking their own record and setting a new Navy record for team score; and

WHEREAS, Emilie Stevenson took third place, Hunter Cushman took fourth place, Matt Ritenour placed fifth, Sheila Craine placed 30th, and Vance Parker finished 71st out of 121 competitors; and

WHEREAS, the dedicated King George High School NJROTC rifle team members spent many hours in practice to prepare for the competition and their skill and precision were evident to competitors from around the nation; and

WHEREAS, the King George High School NJROTC was recognized at the competition with a banquet in their honor; they also took home a trophy to proudly display as a symbol of their accomplishment; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the King George High School Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps rifle team hereby be commended on winning the 2011 - 2012 Navy Nationals Air Rifle Sporter Division championship title; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Jim Morgan, coach of the King George High School Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps rifle team, as an expression of the House of Delegates’ congratulations and appreciation for the team’s skill and outstanding performance.
