2012 SPECIAL SESSION I
12200028DWHEREAS, Louise Mont-Tucker ably served the students of Brunswick County during her four-year term on the school board from 2008 through 2011; and
WHEREAS, a native of Caroline County, Louise Mont-Tucker returned to Virginia and settled in Brunswick County in 1987 after having lived in Maryland; and
WHEREAS, Louise Mont-Tucker began volunteering in the Brunswick County Public Schools system; her love of education and the students led her to complete her master’s degree in education and become a teacher; and
WHEREAS, a dedicated educator, Louise Mont-Tucker worked diligently during her nine years at Brunswick County Public Schools and six years at Richmond Public Schools to create a positive learning environment where all her students could excel; and
WHEREAS, Louise Mont-Tucker retired from teaching in 2006, but continued to take an active role in the school system as a substitute teacher before deciding to run for the first elected school board in Brunswick County; and
WHEREAS, a respected educator and community leader, Louise Mont-Tucker brought a wealth of practical experience and strong leadership skills to the school board; and
WHEREAS, Louise Mont-Tucker worked alongside fellow school board members, county leaders and educators, and local residents to ensure Brunswick County Public Schools students continued to receive the best possible education to prepare them for their futures; and
WHEREAS, Louise Mont-Tucker looks forward to continuing to serve the community as a volunteer and spending time with her son, Delano; his wife, Malina; and her grandchildren, Shawnnesy and Kristin; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Louise Mont-Tucker hereby be commended for her outstanding service as a member of the Brunswick County School Board; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Louise Mont-Tucker as an expression of the House of Delegates’ appreciation for her commitment to public service and the youth of Brunswick County.
