HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 5012
Commending Jamieson Alexander Ledoux.

WHEREAS, Jamieson Alexander Ledoux, a member of Boy Scout Troop 179 in Fredericksburg, recently completed a remarkable service project as part of the requirements to attain the rank of Eagle Scout; and

WHEREAS, a dedicated Boy Scout, Jamieson “Alex” Ledoux chose as his Eagle Scout project to assist a local group that was building bunk beds to ship to orphanages in Cambodia as part of a mission trip; and

WHEREAS, Alex Ledoux adopted one of the orphanages for which the bunk beds were being made, with the goal of building the 14 bunk beds for that orphanage; and

WHEREAS, an extremely industrious young man, Alex Ledoux raised the funds for the materials and enlisted volunteers to assist with the building of the bunk beds; and

WHEREAS, in addition to building the 14 beds for his adopted orphanage, Alex Ledoux also helped coordinate and organize a volunteer work day at his church, where an additional 80 beds were built; and

WHEREAS, building the bunk beds for the orphanage was a large and worthy Eagle Scout project; Alex Ledoux then went above and beyond, traveling to Cambodia to deliver and install the beds for the children; and

WHEREAS, Alex Ledoux, along with his mother and the rest of the group, traveled to several orphanages, seeing firsthand the results of his labors as each bed received a mattress and pillow and became a personal sleeping space for a special orphan; and

WHEREAS, a young man who models the values of the Boy Scouts, Alex Ledoux received the prestigious Eagle Scout Award at a Court of Honor ceremony on April 1, 2012; and

WHEREAS, in addition to his many school and Boy Scout activities, Alex Ledoux also volunteers and instructs with the Wintergreen Adaptive Sports Program, which allows those with disabilities to continue to enjoy outdoor sports and recreation; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend Jamieson Alexander Ledoux for the successful completion of his Eagle Scout service project; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Jamieson Alexander Ledoux as an expression of the General Assembly’s congratulations and admiration for his commitment to serving those around him.
