2012 SESSION
WHEREAS, Ronald Dare Hundley of Montross, whose commitment to the welfare and safety of his community and his dedication to his work were admired by many people, went to be with the Lord on September 9, 2011; and
WHEREAS, Ronald Hundley devoted countless hours to protecting the people and property of Westmoreland County; he was a lifetime member of the Westmoreland County Volunteer Fire Department and also served as a lieutenant for the Westmoreland County Sheriff’s Office; and
WHEREAS, as a dedicated public servant in Westmoreland County for much of his life, Ronald Hundley raced to reports of fires no matter the time of day or night, traveling the winding roads of the Northern Neck to help save people in need and their valued belongings; and
WHEREAS, as a member of law enforcement, Ronald Hundley also served the residents of Westmoreland County, protecting the public, keeping the peace, and reaching out to those in need; and
WHEREAS, Ronald Hundley was a loyal employee; in addition to defending the people of his community, his working life was spent in defense of the United States as he was employed for 36 years by the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division; and
WHEREAS, Ronald Hundley was loyal to the rural community he called home; he was a Mason and belonged to two lodges: the Westmoreland Masonic Lodge No. 212, A.F. & A.M. in Kinsale, and the Warsaw-Bauman Masonic Lodge No. 332, A.F. & A.M. in Warsaw; and
WHEREAS, Ronald Hundley belonged to St. James’ Episcopal Church in Montross where he worshipped along with other neighbors and parishioners; and
WHEREAS, mourning the passing of Ronald Hundley are his wife, Barbara; his parents, Edward and Sarah; his children, Michael and Kristen, and their families; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of a respected citizen and public servant, Ronald Dare Hundley; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Ronald Dare Hundley as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for his memory.
