WHEREAS, Jerry Cutright, head track and field coach for Louisa County High School, was named the 2010–2011 National Boys Track and Field Coach of the Year by the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) Coaches Association; and

WHEREAS, during his tenure as head track and field coach, Jerry Cutright has led teams from Louisa County High School to seven state titles; he attributed his teams’ consistently strong performances to the support he has received from the community; and

WHEREAS, an enthusiastic and dedicated coach, Jerry Cutright recognizes the talent and hard work that the boys on the teams have devoted to their sport; the young people train daily, building endurance and strength; and

WHEREAS, the National Federation of State High School Associations Coaches Association has been recognizing outstanding coaches since 1982, and Jerry Cutright was one of 21 high school coaches nationwide to be named Coach of the Year for their respective sports; and

WHEREAS, in determining the winners each year, the members of the NFHS Coaches Association emphasize the coach’s record, membership in and affiliation with coaching organizations and other professional organizations, school and community involvement, and the nominee’s coaching philosophy; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Jerry Cutright for being named the 2010–2011 National Boys Track and Field Coach of the Year by the National Federation of State High School Associations Coaches Association; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Jerry Cutright as an expression of the General Assembly’s admiration and congratulations for his work with and dedication to the young people of Louisa County.
