Commending the Page County High School baseball team.

WHEREAS, the 2011 Page County High School baseball team won the school’s first Virginia High School League Group A Division 1 state baseball championship, defeating Riverheads High School 3–1; and

WHEREAS, in the championship matchup, the Page County High School Panthers were led by the stellar pitching of junior Patrick Cubbage; the team’s offense was on display, scoring runs in the second and fourth innings against its district rival; and

WHEREAS, the Page County Panthers from Shenandoah had a spectacular season, with strong contributions from many players; the team advanced through postseason play and claimed the Region B baseball title; and

WHEREAS, the success of the Page County High School baseball team is due to the hard work and talent of the entire team: Elliott Good, Kenny Deavers, Tyler Jenkins, Tanner Dofflemyer, Austin Gum, Tyler Turner, Dakota Hensley, Kol Shuler, Justin Garrison, Timmy Cave, Patrick Cubbage, Ty Comer, Michael Foltz, Channin Seal, Ryan Baker, and Quentin Comer; and

WHEREAS, under the leadership of Jim Burke, head coach of the Page County High School baseball team, and assistant coaches Wayne Comer, Skip Dofflemyer, and Charlie Jarvis, the motivated and disciplined players turned in a stellar and historic season; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Page County High School baseball team for winning the Virginia High School League 2011 Group A Division 1 state championship; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Jim Burke, head coach of the Page County High School baseball team, as an expression of the General Assembly’s congratulations on the team’s impressive accomplishment.
