2012 SESSION
WHEREAS, Julie Ball, a dentist from Virginia Beach, captured the International Women’s Fishing Association’s Ginny Sherwood Trophy for the third consecutive year in 2008; and
WHEREAS, the Ginny Sherwood Trophy is given annually to the angler who records the most weight points throughout the season; and
WHEREAS, Julie Ball, one of the top female anglers in the world, was awarded the Ginny Sherwood Trophy after recording 57,004.392 weight points in 24 species in 2008; and
WHEREAS, an avid angler, Julie Ball spent countless hours out on the water, reeling in a variety of fish in all shapes and sizes; and
WHEREAS, during her remarkable year, Julie Ball set a club record when she caught a seven-pound, six-ounce spadefish at a near-shore wreck site; and
WHEREAS, a respected professional and accomplished angler, Julie Ball now focuses on setting light-tackle line-class world records; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Julie Ball on winning the 2008 International Women’s Fishing Association’s Ginny Sherwood Trophy; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Julie Ball as an expression of the General Assembly’s congratulations and admiration for her outstanding accomplishment.
