SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 110
Celebrating the life of Carolyn Bond Coleman.

WHEREAS, Carolyn Bond Coleman, a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, enthusiastic entrepreneur, and faithful servant of God, died on August 9, 2011; and

WHEREAS, the daughter of John and Pency Bond, Carolyn Coleman grew up in Norfolk alongside her nine siblings; and

WHEREAS, a student at Booker T. Washington High School, Carolyn Coleman was a member of the Future Business Leaders of America and the Student Government Association, where she gained valuable experience and made many friends; and

WHEREAS, Carolyn Coleman excelled in her studies, becoming a member of the Honor Society and graduating as salutatorian of her class; she then enrolled at Bennett College and later received an associate degree from DuPage Community College; and

WHEREAS, a real estate broker, Carolyn Coleman provided outstanding service to her clients as she helped them find the perfect home and neighborhood in which to live and raise their families; and

WHEREAS, Carolyn Coleman also partnered with her husband, Bruce, to found Image Boosters LLC, an advertising specialty firm that provided promotional products to businesses, organizations, and individuals; and

WHEREAS, a woman of tremendous faith and heart, Carolyn Coleman was a member of Mount Zion A.M.E. Church, where she expounded on the scriptures for the edification of her Sunday School class and took part in various ministries; and

WHEREAS, a light to her family, Carolyn Coleman will be greatly missed by her husband of 41 years, Bruce; son, Bruce III, and his wife, Natalie; twin grandsons, Ross and Liam; nine siblings, Senator Yvonne B. Miller, Elsie B. Lewis, Rosa Bond, James Bond, David Bond, Jeremiah Bond, Samuel Bond, Carl Bond, and Steven Bond; and many other loving family members and friends; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of a respected citizen of the Commonwealth, Carolyn Bond Coleman; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Carolyn Bond Coleman as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for her memory.
