SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 101
Celebrating the life of Carol Ann Orndorff.

WHEREAS, Carol Ann Orndorff, who ably served the Town of Vienna as its Clerk for 22 years, died on November 2, 2011; and

WHEREAS, a native of Fredericksburg, Carol Orndorff graduated from Falls Church High School and, a gifted soprano, attended Westminster Choir College to further develop her vocal talents and pursue musical studies; and

WHEREAS, Carol Orndorff gained valuable experience working for the Department of the Navy and as a legal secretary before joining the Vienna Department of Planning and Zoning in the mid-1980s; and

WHEREAS, in 1987, Carol Orndorff became Town Clerk of Vienna, a position she held until her retirement in 2009; and

WHEREAS, as Town Clerk, Carol Orndorff worked with town officials, fellow staff members, and the public as she maintained the official documents of the town, including the generation of town council minutes; and

WHEREAS, known for her amiable disposition and positive energy, Carol Orndorff served as a knowledgeable source for town information and greatly enjoyed helping her fellow residents and community during her tenure; and

WHEREAS, in her free time, Carol Orndorff actively participated in community affairs through her affiliation with the Vienna Host Lions Club and shared her vocal talents by performing in musical theater and skits; and

WHEREAS, a woman of faith, Carol Orndorff enjoyed fellowship and worship at Dunn Loring United Methodist Church and later, Vienna Presbyterian Church; and

WHEREAS, Carol Orndorff will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her surviving family members, many friends, and the residents of the Town of Vienna; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of an admired public servant and outstanding Virginian, Carol Ann Orndorff; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Carol Ann Orndorff as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for her memory.
