HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 80
Commending Community Church.

 

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, March 10, 2012

 

WHEREAS, Community Church of Ashburn celebrates 30 years of serving the community in 2012; and

WHEREAS, founded in 1982 by Pastor Arlie Whitlow, Community Church held its first service on September 14, 1982, without a church building or assets but with a dream and hope based on faith; and

WHEREAS, Community Church was founded on the belief that it is a HOSPITAL for all—with HOSPITAL standing for Helping the Hurting, Outreach to the World, Serving our Community, Preaching the Good News, Involvement in Ministry, Teaching God’s Word, Adoration of God, and Leadership Development; and

WHEREAS, Community Church offers a wide array of ministries to serve its members, including Business to Business Workshop, Celebrate Recovery, Community Kids, Discipleship, Discovering Your Gifts, Divorce Care, Fire Escape High School, and Fire Escape Middle School; and

WHEREAS, Community Church also provides workshops and classes on a variety of topics to help members grow and develop in their faith and life skills; and

WHEREAS, Community Church members minister to the needs of the hungry in Loudoun County through its Messiah’s Market food pantry, which has served nearly 2,500 men, women, and children; and

WHEREAS, Community Church members look forward to celebrating the church’s anniversary and continuing to enjoy inspired teaching and rich fellowship; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Community Church hereby be commended on the occasion of its 30th anniversary; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Community Church as an expression of the House of Delegates’ congratulations and respect for the church’s commitment to serving its members and the community.
