HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 79 Offered March 9, 2012 Commending Park Valley Church. ---------- Patrons-- Ramadan and Hugo ----------

WHEREAS, Park Valley Church in Haymarket continues its mission of serving the Lord and community in 2012; and

WHEREAS, Park Valley Church, led by Pastor Barry White, provides a wide array of missions for its members that help them grow and develop in their faith; and

WHEREAS, Park Valley Church also plays a pivotal role in the larger community with its Open Hands ministry, which concentrates on three areas of local need—emergency assistance, homelessness, and building relationships; and

WHEREAS, Park Valley Church members of Open Hands ministry focus on solutions for emergency need and recognize the importance of prayer, dignity, and relationships; and

WHEREAS, Park Valley Church responds to numerous calls for emergency assistance and generously provides critical items, such as food and diapers, to those in need as well as supports the Haymarket Regional Food Pantry; and

WHEREAS, Park Valley Church members also travel every year to Chiquimula, Guatemala, and work with missionary Myra Smith while missionary trips to Haiti are organized through Helping Haitian Angels; and

WHEREAS, Park Valley Church looks forward to continuing to serve the community and building the faith of its members through worship, fellowship, and study; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Park Valley Church hereby be commended for its efforts to meet the needs of local community members; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Park Valley Church as an expression of the House of Delegates’ respect for the church’s commitment to serving the community.
