2012 SESSION
WHEREAS, Jeryl Rose Phillips, a resident of Norfolk, has served as a professional planner in Hampton Roads for more than two decades; and
WHEREAS, Jeryl Rose Phillips is a graduate of The College of William & Mary and the University of Virginia; and
WHEREAS, Jeryl Rose Phillips was admitted to the American Institute of Certified Planners in 2003; and
WHEREAS, Jeryl Rose Phillips has served in many leadership positions in the Virginia Chapter of the American Planning Association culminating in her election as chapter president in 2008, an office to which she was reelected in 2010; and
WHEREAS, Jeryl Rose Phillips will complete her tenure as president of the Virginia Chapter of the American Planning Association in July 2012 after four years of dynamic leadership; and
WHEREAS, under the leadership of Jeryl Rose Phillips, the Virginia Chapter of the American Planning Association has grown in respect and relevance in the Commonwealth among professional planners in both the public and private sectors, planning commissions, and elected officials at all levels of government; and
WHEREAS, Jeryl Rose Phillips has been recognized by her peers from across the United States by being selected as the 2012 recipient of the Chapter President Service Award presented annually by the Chapter Presidents Council of the American Planning Association; and
WHEREAS, Jeryl Rose Phillips daily models the ideal that planners have a moral and ethical responsibility to ensure that all members of the community are represented in the planning process; and
WHEREAS, Jeryl Rose Phillips reflects the highest standards of professional ethics, leadership, and achievement; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Jeryl Rose Phillips hereby be commended on the occasion of her selection as the 2012 recipient of the prestigious Chapter President Service Award from the American Planning Association; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Jeryl Rose Phillips as an expression of the House of Delegates’ congratulations and admiration for her leadership of and contributions to the planning profession in the Commonwealth.
