2012 SESSION
12102990DWHEREAS, the Randolph-Macon College volleyball team won the 2011 Old Dominion Athletic Conference championship with a 3 - 1 victory over Washington and Lee University; it was the third consecutive ODAC title for the team from Ashland; and
WHEREAS, three members of the Randolph-Macon College volleyball team, Mallory Carter of Moseley, Tori Puryear of Madison, and Jessica Sears of Newport News, were selected for the 2011 ODAC All-Tournament team; and
WHEREAS, five Yellow Jackets were chosen for the ODAC 2011 Volleyball All-Conference team: Marli Dabareiner of Hardy and Mallory Carter were named to the first team; Jessica Sears was selected for the second team; and Bailey Troia of Virginia Beach and Tori Puryear were selected for the third team; and
WHEREAS, additional honors for the Yellow Jackets include Jessica Sears being voted the 2011 ODAC/Farm Bureau Insurance Volleyball Scholar-Athlete of the Year, and Maggie Holbert of Parrish, Florida, being selected for the 2011 ODAC/StellarOne Sportsmanship Volleyball Team; and
WHEREAS, Randolph-Macon volleyball team members Mallory Carter and Marli Dabareiner also were voted to the 2011 American Volleyball Coaches Association All-South Region team; Mallory Carter also was selected for the 2011 NCAA Division III Volleyball Tournament Newport News Regional Team; and
WHEREAS, the entire team’s commitment to victory throughout the fall greatly contributed to Randolph-Macon’s third straight championship season; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Randolph-Macon College volleyball team on its 2011 Old Dominion Athletic Conference championship; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Bill Rogers, head coach of the Randolph-Macon College volleyball team, as an expression of the General Assembly’s congratulations and admiration for the team’s championship performance.
