Celebrating the life of Charles Glenn Rosemond III.

WHEREAS, Charles Glenn Rosemond III of Richmond, a noted business and community leader who encouraged foreign and domestic commerce for Virginia ports, died on November 1, 2011; and

WHEREAS, in 1983 Charles “Chick” Rosemond joined Wyatt Transfer, Inc., in Richmond as vice president of sales and marketing and worked alongside other company executives and employees to expand upon the firm’s long and proud tradition of providing superior transportation services; and

WHEREAS, Chick Rosemond worked closely with various organizations and associations in the Hampton Roads area as Wyatt Transfer, Inc., began to transport ocean containers in order to ensure timely transport that met the needs of the ports; and

WHEREAS, a respected leader, Chick Rosemond remained committed to ensuring the vitality of Virginia ports and supporting maritime industries through his work on the board of directors of the Virginia Maritime Association; and

WHEREAS, Chick Rosemond also generously gave of his time and energy to the Hampton Roads Foreign Commerce Club and the Richmond Export-Import Club and served as past chair of the Sales and Marketing Council of the American Trucking Association and Inland Transportation Committee; and

WHEREAS, Chick Rosemond served as the inspiration behind a workforce development program that focused on increasing the pool of drivers serving the Port of Virginia and helping those drivers operate in a safe manner; and

WHEREAS, dedicated to creating positive and collaborative working relationships among maritime businesses and the motor carriers who served them, Chick Rosemond received numerous awards and accolades over the course of his career; and

WHEREAS, Chick Rosemond was the proud recipient of the Rudy Rudershausen Award from the Richmond Export-Import Club, the Commerce Builder of the Year Award from the Hampton Roads Foreign Commerce Club, and the Distinguished Service Award from the Virginia Maritime Association; and

WHEREAS, a devoted family man, loyal friend, and hard-working business leader, Chick Rosemond leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving family, many friends, and former colleagues; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of a respected citizen of the Commonwealth, Charles Glenn Rosemond III; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Charles Glenn Rosemond III as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for his memory.
