12100769DWHEREAS, on November 5, 2011, Catherine Muldoon, a dentist from Virginia Beach, was named Miss Virginia USA 2011 at the Sandler Center for the Performing Arts; and
WHEREAS, at the young age of 10, Catherine Muldoon began a modeling career in her hometown of Westchester, New York, after being scouted at a local mall, and entered pageants throughout high school; and
WHEREAS, after high school, Catherine Muldoon focused on her academic studies, graduating from New York University and the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, before accepting a position as a cosmetic dentist in the Virginia Beach area; and
WHEREAS, while a student, Catherine Muldoon had the opportunity to travel internationally, where she gained firsthand experience with dental health issues facing citizens of other countries; and
WHEREAS, during her reign as Miss Virginia USA 2011, Catherine Muldoon will focus her efforts on advocating for Susan G. Komen for the Cure, an organization that fights against breast cancer, and Operation Smile, which provides reconstructive surgery to children around the world who are born with facial deformities; and
WHEREAS, Catherine Muldoon will also participate in the Miss USA pageant, which will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada, in 2012; and
WHEREAS, while serving as Miss Virginia USA 2011, Catherine Muldoon will continue to serve her patients, providing quality dental care and education; and
WHEREAS, possessing a rare combination of beauty, talent, intelligence, and dedication, Catherine Muldoon will ably represent the Commonwealth during her reign as Miss Virginia USA; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend Catherine Muldoon on her selection as Miss Virginia USA 2011; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Catherine Muldoon as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for her exceptional accomplishments and best wishes in her future endeavors.
