2012 SESSION
WHEREAS, Carole Weinstein of Richmond was honored for her outstanding civic service and distinguished professional accomplishments with a 2012 YWCA Outstanding Women Award; and
WHEREAS, a dedicated community and business leader, Carole Weinstein has made many notable contributions to the Greater Richmond area in education, philanthropy, and Jewish life; and
WHEREAS, a former teacher at St. Catherine’s School, Carole Weinstein has also served as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Richmond, generously supporting a variety of educational programs, scholarships, and campus resources at the university over the years; and
WHEREAS, Carole Weinstein established three professorships and a merit scholarship at the University of Richmond, in addition to generously supporting the social science building, recreation and wellness center, and the international center; and
WHEREAS, Carole Weinstein and her husband faithfully supported the University of Richmond’s Hillel program and established an annual fund for Jewish life programming at the University of Richmond; and
WHEREAS, Carole Weinstein has played a pivotal role in the development of the Weinstein-Rosenthal Forum on Faith, Ethics, and Global Society and supported the Carole Weinstein International Center, both at the University of Richmond, to broaden students’ understanding of the global society; and
WHEREAS, Carole Weinstein also established the Carole M. Weinstein Fund for Distinguished Teaching at St. Christopher’s School and the Carole Weinstein Prize in Poetry; and
WHEREAS, Carole Weinstein has graciously given of her time and talents over the years to a number of institutions, serving as director of Jewish Family Services of Richmond, on the board of the Library of Virginia and the Library of Virginia Foundation, as a trustee with the Virginia Historical Society, and on the board of trustees of Davidson College; and
WHEREAS, Carole Weinstein has also supported the Virginia League for Planned Parenthood, Equality Virginia, and ROSMY; and
WHEREAS, a truly outstanding woman, Carole Weinstein has graciously and generously supported numerous educational and community initiatives in the Greater Richmond area that have touched the lives of countless students and residents; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Carole Weinstein on her selection as a 2012 YWCA Outstanding Women Award recipient; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Carole Weinstein as an expression of the General Assembly’s congratulations and respect for her commitment to the community.
