2012 SESSION
12105724DWHEREAS, Iris E. Holliday of Richmond was honored for her outstanding civic service and distinguished professional accomplishments with a 2012 YWCA Outstanding Women Award; and
WHEREAS, a dedicated community and business leader, Iris Holliday has made many notable contributions to the Greater Richmond area as a volunteer with numerous organizations; and
WHEREAS, a graduate of Howard University, Iris Holliday earned a master’s degree from Virginia Commonwealth University and furthered her education at the University of Georgia and the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill; and
WHEREAS, the manager of local, regional, and state affairs for Dominion Virginia Power, Iris Holliday oversees a team that covers 42 counties, 13 cities, and 16 towns; and
WHEREAS, a graduate of Leadership Metro Richmond and LEAD Virginia, Iris Holliday currently serves on the board of governors of The Community Foundation, the board of directors of the Jenkins Foundation, and the board of United Methodist Family Services Charterhouse School and is the chair-elect of the board of directors of the Children’s Museum of Richmond; and
WHEREAS, a longtime community supporter, Iris Holliday has previously volunteered with the William Byrd Community House, Voices for Virginia’s Children, ART 180, the United Way of Greater Richmond and Petersburg, and the FRIENDS Association for Children; and
WHEREAS, committed to the well-being of local children and young adults and their futures, Iris Holliday established the Holliday Fund to give scholarships to graduates of Richmond Public Schools; and
WHEREAS, a truly outstanding woman, Iris Holliday has graciously and generously given of her time and talents to numerous organizations in the Greater Richmond area, helping them achieve their objectives of serving the community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Iris E. Holliday on her selection as a 2012 YWCA Outstanding Women Award recipient; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Iris E. Holliday as an expression of the General Assembly’s congratulations and respect for her commitment to the community.
