Commending the Colonial Forge High School wrestling team.

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, March 2, 2012
Agreed to by the Senate, March 7, 2012

WHEREAS, the Colonial Forge High School wrestling team from Stafford won the 2012 Virginia High School League (VHSL) Group AAA team wrestling championship, taking home the school’s fourth state wrestling title in six years; and

WHEREAS, the Colonial Forge High School Eagles are a wrestling powerhouse, winning state championships in 2007, 2008, and 2009; to reclaim the trophy at the 2012 tournament, the Eagles earned 152.5 points, handily outdistancing runner-up James W. Robinson, Jr., Secondary School’s 87 points; and

WHEREAS, the Colonial Forge High School wrestlers were high scorers in the early rounds of the VHSL competition; that advantage stayed with the Eagles through the tournament and enabled them to claim the overall team title for 2012; and

WHEREAS, David Reck, a senior at Colonial Forge High School, won the 182-pound weight class finals match; many of his teammates also did well in their respective weight classes—especially early in the competition—thus ensuring the Eagles the state victory before the final round started; and

WHEREAS, the success of the Colonial Forge High School wrestling team is due to the hard work of the entire team, the commitment of the coaching staff, which is ably led by head wrestling coach Bill Swink, and the strong support of the entire school community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Colonial Forge High School wrestling team for winning the 2012 Virginia High School League Group AAA team wrestling championship; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Bill Swink, head wrestling coach at Colonial Forge High School, as an expression of the General Assembly’s congratulations and admiration for an outstanding season.
