Commending Mack Smith.

WHEREAS, Mack Smith served the residents of Rockbridge County with great dedication as a member of the board of supervisors from 2004 until 2012; and

WHEREAS, an experienced county government official, Mack Smith had previously served on the Rockbridge County Planning Commission prior to his election to the board of supervisors; and

WHEREAS, Mack Smith ably represented the Buffalo District, located in the southwest corner of scenic Rockbridge County, as he worked alongside fellow supervisors and county and area officials to enhance county services; and

WHEREAS, Mack Smith devoted much time and energy to serving Rockbridge County residents, attending meetings, responding to constituent concerns, and studying a wide array of issues; and

WHEREAS, a respected member of the community, Mack Smith served as the only citizen appointee of the Courthouse Advisory Committee; and

WHEREAS, a farmer, Mack Smith took pride in serving as the voice for production agriculture while a member of the board of supervisors and effectively represented the board on Rockbridge County’s Farm and Forest Preservation Committee, providing valuable insight and perspective; and

WHEREAS, an admired leader, Mack Smith demonstrated great integrity, professionalism, and devotion to duty as he served Rockbridge County and looks forward to spending time with friends and family; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Mack Smith for his exemplary service on the Rockbridge County Board of Supervisors; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Mack Smith as an expression of the General Assembly’s admiration and gratitude for his commitment to public service.
