HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 459 Offered February 27, 2012 Commending Robert and Betty Niles. ---------- Patrons-- Lingamfelter, Cole, Howell, W.J., Scott, E.T., and Webert; Senator: Vogel ----------

WHEREAS, Robert and Betty Niles of the Lee District of Fauquier County were honored as 2011 Citizens of the Year by the Fauquier County Board of Supervisors; and

WHEREAS, Robert and Betty Niles observed from personal experience how hospice care benefited their loved ones and the family members who care for them; the couple wanted to help make that quality of care available to the residents of Fauquier County and surrounding counties; and

WHEREAS, Robert and Betty Niles are very generous benefactors of the Hospice of the Rapidan, where Robert Niles serves on the board of directors; the couple donated 14 acres of land in Fauquier County to establish a residential hospice building; and

WHEREAS, in generously contributing their time and talents to this and other community causes, Robert and Betty Niles are stellar examples of what it means to be good citizens; they have devoted many years to the betterment of Fauquier County; and

WHEREAS, committed to making a difference in Fauquier County, Robert and Betty Niles are outstanding role models, inspiring others to make a positive difference in their communities; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend and congratulate Robert and Betty Niles as 2011 Fauquier County Citizens of the Year for the Lee District; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Robert and Betty Niles as an expression of the General Assembly’s gratitude for their dedication to the community of Fauquier County.
