2012 SESSION
WHEREAS, during her senior year at Hidden Valley High School in Roanoke County, Haley Cutright won the individual state title in the 1,000-meter indoor track race at the 2010 - 2011 Virginia High School League Group AA Indoor Track and Field State Championships; and
WHEREAS, with a winning time of 2 minutes, 57.90 seconds, Haley Cutright defeated the second-place finisher by .04 seconds, after trailing by as much as 10 meters entering the final stretch; and
WHEREAS, Haley Cutright also finished in the top four in the state cross-country championships throughout her high school years, even though she only started running competitively in the ninth grade; and
WHEREAS, Haley Cutright first competed in track during her senior year of school, yet she recorded the eighth-best time in the state in the indoor mile with a time of 5 minutes, 5.82 seconds; this victory was achieved after just one running of that event; and
WHEREAS, at the Patriot-Titan Distance Carnival meet, Haley Cutright, together with the other members of the girls’ 4x1600-meter relay team, ran the second fastest time in state history with a time of 20 minutes, 57.50 seconds; and
WHEREAS, Haley Cutright was named to the All State Track and Field team and the All District and All Timesland track and field teams; the Hidden Valley High School girls’ Track and Field team won the 2010 – 2011 Virginia High School League Group AA Outdoor Track state championship; and
WHEREAS, Haley Cutright, along with her Hidden Valley High School teammates, placed renewed emphasis on ensuring that all runners maintain optimal health; and
WHEREAS, Haley Cutright is a multi-talented athlete, who also captained the girls’ soccer team at Hidden Valley High School; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Haley Cutright for her accomplishments in cross-country and track and field; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Haley Cutright as an expression of the General Assembly’s congratulations on her many athletic achievements.
