WHEREAS, Edward F. Lewis, of Harrisonburg Nissan in Harrisonburg, is the 2012 Time Magazine Quality Automobile Dealer of the Year Nominee for Virginia; and

WHEREAS, Edward F. “Ed” Lewis, whose career in the auto industry has spanned almost 40 years and has culminated with his becoming the owner of dealerships in Harrisonburg, Staunton, and Covington, representing Nissan, Subaru, and Honda franchises; and

WHEREAS, an active and dedicated member of his community, both in the Shenandoah Valley, where his businesses are located, and Virginia Beach, where he grew up and currently lives, Ed Lewis has supported a wide array of industry and community causes for many years; and

WHEREAS, Ed Lewis has been a leader in his Valley and Virginia Beach communities, and has been a longtime supporter of the Hope House Foundation in Norfolk; in June 2010 he was honored by the Hope House Foundation with the Outstanding Community Service Award in recognition of his support of their mission, which is to provide support and independent living for disabled adults; and

WHEREAS, a steadfast member of his local community, Ed Lewis has contributed to numerous community organizations and events, including local Lions Clubs, Valley Young Life, Wintergreen Nature Foundation, and as a founding donor to the Sander Center for the Performing Arts in Virginia Beach; and

WHEREAS, an active and dedicated member of his industry, Ed Lewis has served his customers and his community with a generous spirit and has been an example to dealers in his community and around the Commonwealth; and

WHEREAS, Ed Lewis has earned numerous awards, including the Nissan President’s Club Award of Merit, Nissan President’s Circle, Nissan First Award of Excellence, Stellar Performer Certified Subaru Dealership, and the Subaru President’s Club; and

WHEREAS, Ed Lewis has been an active member of the Virginia Automobile Dealers Association and served for many years as a member of the Board of Directors; and

WHEREAS, Ed Lewis served as chairman of the Virginia Automobile Dealers Association in 2008, leading all his fellow franchise dealers as their top elected officer; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Edward F. Lewis on his selection as the 2012 Time Magazine Quality Dealer of the Year Nominee for Virginia; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Edward F. Lewis as an expression of the General Assembly’s congratulations and best wishes.
