12105279DWHEREAS, Sharon Wilson, a sergeant with the Danville Sheriff’s Office, is commended for her sharp observation, skillfulness, and courage in foiling a crime scheme while off duty; and
WHEREAS, on July 6, 2011, Sharon Wilson, who works part-time as a clerk at Sam’s Club, became suspicious when a group of men entered and one attempted to open an account with the store; and
WHEREAS, Sharon Wilson suspected that the identification card the man presented to open the account was fake; as he filled out the paperwork to open the account, she contacted the sheriff’s office; and
WHEREAS, Sharon Wilson kept the man and his friends engaged in conversation until the police arrived and arrested the suspects; and
WHEREAS, as a result of Sharon Wilson’s sharp eye, the investigation of the man and his associates resulted in the recovery of about $100,000 in property and the breakup of a group of organized criminals; and
WHEREAS, Sharon Wilson had recently attended a briefing from the Danville Police Department on this type of crime and her quick thinking and attention to detail even while off duty demonstrate the depth of her commitment and the quality of her law-enforcement training; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Sharon Wilson on her efforts to foil an organized crime ring; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Sharon Wilson as an expression of the General Assembly’s admiration and respect for her commitment to public safety.
